MICROVASCULAR SURGICAL TEACHING ROUNDS USING RAT TRANSPLANTATION MODEL WITH TWELVE YEAR BIBLOIGRAPHY
Lee, Sun/À̼±
Abstract
Since Dr. Fisher(1961) and I reported the technique of the portacaval Shunt in the rat using the suture technique, the popularity of employing this species in organ transplantation studies has gained immensely. The ability to transplant these organs in rats will not only open the avenue for better understanding of transplantation immunology, but also further investigation of physiology, immunopathology, endocrinology, and other branches of medicine can be possible. All those who are to become neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, pediatric surgeons, vascular surgeons, transplantation surgeons, urologists or general surgeons may broaden the basic concept of vascular surgery by practicing the rat blood vessel anastomosis. For over a decade by popular demand, many opportunities have been created to teach these scientists throughout the world as an individual instructor or as a classroom teacher. The teaching subject may vary at times and the teaching method may be
changed for different circumstances. The teaching of rat anatomy will lead to successful vascular anastomosis in the rat.
